Carole

Carole is an electronic oracle containing four hundred sayings and proverbs. The user is invited to ask a question, then an "answer" is called up at random via a presence detector. Thanks to the enigmatic and universal nature of the sentences, the person creates a link with his or her question. We made the first version of Carole for the Karriere Bar launched by artist Jeppe Hein in Copenhagen. Set up above the handbasins in the washrooms, the sentences appear when someone approaches.
