Restaurant / Place de la Bastille, Paris / 2O11
After Avenue Trudaine and Place Franz Liszt, a third Corso marks the beginning of the first chain of restaurants by ‘Beaumarly’. Besides the whole interior architecture and art direction, we also designed a new bistrot chair which is now produced by Thonet. The restaurant's ambiance remains unchanged as we originally defined it : A simple, yet sophisticated place that doesn't show off as a typical ‘design-restaurant’. Comfort is achieved through discrete details which the guest discovers progressively. Another challenge was to design a chain of restaurants without simply repeating a pre-defined list of furnishing elements. It is all about an organic evolution where some elements are repeated and others change. Indeed each restaurant strongly adapts to the given architectural context and our design intervention ranges from minimal to overall redefinition. 13O m2 + terrace, 75 seats inside, 8O outside.
