1OO% Illusion

olfactory installation / Gare Saint Lazare, Paris / 2O16

Paris Saint Lazare, Europe’s second biggest train station is the first stop of this travelling, olfactory, sensory installation. This open air laboratory invites travellers and residents to experience an initiation to perfume making. None of the four scents which are diffused in the smaller cones give any hint that together they produce the smell of lavender, diffused in the large cone. This phenomenon is called olfactory illusion. I was particularly interested in the challenge of combining two theoretically incompatible aspects which are the idea of intimacy related to perfume and the harsh reality of an extremely crowded environment such as a train station.
